Celebrating Chinese New Year

by Papa K on February 5, 2013

Last Friday, we joined Maile and her classmates at the Presidio Knolls Chinese New Year Celebration. It’s the one time in the year when the whole school gets together – and with 130+ students now, it’s quite a crowd.

This year for the first time, each class of students performed a Chinese New Year song on stage. Maile’s first school performance! The kids had been practicing for a couple weeks and the teachers made sure we helped prepare them to go up on stage my themselves. (We started a few days before the event, telling Maile how excited we were to see her on stage and that we would be sitting in the audience and she would go with her teachers.) Either the prep worked or we had nothing to worry about, because Maile girl showed no signs of stage fright!

All the classes did a great job, but, of course, we were partial to Maile and her Ginkgo classmates 🙂

I'd tell you the name of the song they sang ... but it was in Chinese ;)
