Adults Are Strange

Maile at her first Music Together class

Maile Girl here. Today I turned 9 months old. Mommy and Daddy said they had a surprise for me – we were going to start a new activity on Sunday mornings. The activity turned out to be Music Together – basically it was a big room full of other little kids around my age and all the way up to almost 2 years old (which is really old). They had all these instruments and there was a lady who played the guitar and led all the songs.

Sounds fun, right? I think it will be – but I gotta be honest – adults are strange sometimes. Mommy and daddy went along with the songs and dancing – so I guess its cool (assuming, of course, that my mommy and daddy are cool – and well, I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt for now). As the video below shows, I’m just not 100% on board with everything. I’m still trying to process it. In the meantime, I’m keeping my Maile Stoic Face in full effect – once I loosen up, maybe I’ll give them a smile…

Maile at 9 Months

Maile Girl at 9 months and on the move...

Maile Girl at 9 months and on the move...

Maile turned 9 months old today. Hard to believe she’s been alive and with us on “the outside” as long as she was “baking” inside mommy. As much as she has changed and grown over the past 9 months, I feel like things are just starting to ramp up.

Over the past couple weeks she’s finally started to figure out crawling (we’ll capture a good video soon) and is really starting to explore the world around her (which at this point mainly consist of our living room).

She eats whatever we throw at her (and sometimes throws it right back) – although she hasn’t quite acquired the taste for formula yet complicatingthe weaning process a bit.

Sleep-wise she’s on a pretty consistent schedule that works for the most part although isn’t completely ideal. She goes down really easily at night and sleeps through the night until about 4 AM or so. Chris usually feeds her at that point and then she sleeps through until ~6:30 AM. Ideally we’d like to cut out that early morning feeding, but haven’t had much success yet..

She’s quite the character as I’m sure loyal readers have figured out from the various exploits we’ve documented here – but she definitely has her moods. She’s friendly overall with new people, but sometimes takes a while to really warm up and show that beautiful full face smile of hers. It’s not that she gets upset, but those who are meeting her for the first time often get Maile’s stoic face. She’s a cool cat, you need to keep her interested!

That’s the quick summary – we can’t wait to see what happens next. Below are a few more shots we took today of Maile Girl at 9 months:
