We had a great weekend with Maile. She is really starting to interact with the world a bit more. She stares at her animal friends and her flails seem to have a bit more direction. This morning (Sunday) she was all smiles and “chatting” up a storm. We played on her jungle mat for awhile – I can tell its only going to get better and better!
I feel a smile coming on - get the camera ready ...
Here it is ...
Oh yeah, nailed it!
A baby’s smile can be a fickle thing to capture on film (at least this early on). While Maile smiles all the time, it can be fleeting – often the picture ends up being right before or right after – missing, the full explosion of joy. Well, I think its fair to say we nailed it with these photos. We’re ready for bigger game now – Loch Ness, we’re coming for you!
(PS – That Loch Ness wikipedia article linked to above is pretty interesting if you have the time …)
(PPS – Thank you Auntie Wendy for the cool hat and outfit. The hat is great, one of the few that actually fits Maile’s head.)
It may not sound like much, but this video captures me having a conversation with my friends, Parrot, Monkey and Giraffe. Pretty sure Giraffe and I figured out this whole health care mess. Monkey disagreed with us, but let’s be honest, who really thinks a blue monkey knows what he is talking about? Meanwhile, Parrot was just chirping jitterish – I have no idea what that bird is saying half the time…
Maile cruised into her second month and didn’t skip a beat. She learned a few new tricks, made lots of new friends, and accompanied mom and dad on more and more trips out and about.
See below or click here for some of the highlights:
The nipple seems to work the same (although I think its a little more rubbery.
But that’s definitely not my mommy!
Hey daddy, didn't realize you were capable of this. Cool beans!
(Dad note: Last week we started introducing Maile to a bottle. So far we are doing one bottle a day. She’s been great with it – which is good news all around. I get to help out with the feedings – which is pretty cool (although I imagine I will think slightly less cool, when I get tagged with the 3 AM feeding). Chris gets a bit of a break and we have a lot more freedom to travel around the city and visit people.)
This weekend we set up a new toy for Maile – her jungle activity gym. She really loves it. How do we know? Well, because she pooped on it on Sunday. (Sorry, no pictures of that.)
Maile is definitely starting to lock on to things with her eyes and is kicking around a lot more. We thought it’d be fun for her to hang out with the animals in the activity gym.
What are you lookin' at, parrot?
We’re thinking the activity gym will provide hours of entertainment … after it dries out from the wash.
