Hard to believe that we are fast approaching 1 month old! Christine and I were talking earlier this evening about how on one hand it feels like its going by so quickly, but on the other hand its hard to remember when Maile wasn’t here with us. I think its fair to say we are all adjusting, starting to figure things out and settling in quite well.

Maile had another great week – among the highlights:

  • As previously covered, Maile met her Auntie Elyssa, who came to stay with us last weekend. Definitely a highlight!
  • Maile also met two new friends, Ferris and Wills – and a lot more of mom and dad’s friends too.
  • Maile participated in her first “ladies’ night” when mom had the girls over to watch So You Think You Can Dance – she’s not happy with the final four dancers and feels bad that she didn’t call in to vote for Ade.
  • We had our first couple of family outings – including Sunday brunch at Crave and lunch at Nick’s Crispy Tacos. In case you are wondering, she recommends … the breast milk.
  • Survived dad’s first trip out of town (and dad did too!)

Meeting My Auntie Elyssa

Auntie Elyssa & Me

Auntie Elyssa & Me

I woke up this morning and something was different around the apartment. My diaper was still wet and I was definitely hungry, but after I was fed and changed, there was someone missing. It took me a little bit, but I soon realized my Auntie Elyssa was no longer here! Major bummer! She arrived on Friday when my daddy went out of town and I thought she was here for good like all of those stuffed animals that hang out in my crib. Alas, not to be … but I know I did make a great friend forever and I can’t wait until our next visit!

(Dad Note: Elyssa cooked up a storm when she was here – and the food was amazing. Really, really good. If you haven’t already, definitely check out her blog for some good recipes and stories about food… Thank you Elyssa for taking care of my girls while I was away!)
