Not Quite Ready to Stand Yet

by Papa K on November 4, 2013

Maile Girl started walking at just over 13 months – we’ve been thinking that Lauren is going to have her beat (she seems like she is getting closer and closer).

But she’s not quite there yet…

As we know, every year Grandma Gail makes Maile (and now Lauren) their Halloween costumes. (See 2012, 2011, 2010 and 2009 – no really, go look, you won’t be disappointed!) A couple months ago, we asked Maile what she wanted to be for Halloween and without hesitation she said “A unicorn. A rainbow unicorn.”

I think it’s safe to say that, once again, Grandma Gail delivered!

This year was also a first as we voyaged out beyond the gates of our courtyard to take in the San Francisco trick or treating scene. It was pretty crazy out there, but we had a blast and Maile has a full bag of candy for our troubles (perhaps a bit less by when she wakes up tomorrow morning 😉

Maile was very particular about the candy she chose - she learned quickly which ones looked like ones she'd like (colorful) and which were chocolate (brown, yellow, etc.)

Panting with Excitement

by Papa K on October 24, 2013

In my opinion, the cutest thing Lauren does these days is when she gets so excited she starts panting. For your viewing pleasure as we head into the weekend…

Swinging into the week

Nothing says “life is good” like a little swinging in the sun…

I’ll Have What She’s Having

by Papa K on October 17, 2013

Lauren is definitely mobile now and that means that Maile no longer rules the roost all by herself. The era of Lauren being all in Maile’s stuff has begun…

Super Slide with Mommy

by Papa K on October 16, 2013

Maile Girl hasn’t always been the bravest little girl – especially when it comes to heights. So it wasn’t a huge shock to us when she balked at going down the Super Slide at the Topsfield Fair. Mommy really wanted to go down it though and she somehow convinced Maile Girl to join her – and, of course, Maile loved it and wanted to go again immediately after getting to the bottom. Moral of the story (like all others) – listen to your mother!

Yeah, Maile isn't enjoying this at all :)

After spending the day with Mommy, Auntie and the rest of the girls getting all ready and pretty, the time came for the actual wedding. Lauren joined Maile, Chris and I at the wedding ceremony and then hung out for the cocktail hour before heading home to get some baby sleep. Maile Girl stayed for the whole reception and danced for pretty much the whole night. We had been having some dance parties at home in preparation and I think I created a dancing monster. So much fun dancing the night away with Maile Girl!

After Auntie’s first dance it was time for Maile Girl to take the dance floor. First with Mommy:

And then with Daddy:

Before she left for the hotel, Lauren snuck in a dance with Daddy too:

Chinese Hopscotch

by Papa K on October 9, 2013

Maile loves playing with the sidewalk chalk at Grandma and Papa Boston’s house – it also helps that they have a nice big driveway to draw on! Yesterday, Mommy taught Maile how to play hopscotch and Maile Girl added some Mandarin flair to the game (mainly by writing the numbers in Chinese). Lauren (with an assist from Daddy) got in on the action too!

Kissing Practice

by Papa K on October 7, 2013

My guess is we’ll think of this different in 10 or 12 years – but for now, ridiculously cute…

Lauren’s First Word?

by Papa K on September 25, 2013

If you asked Maile, Lauren is saying “Maile” in this video, but I think she is pretty clearly saying “Da-da”! That makes me two for two on first words, but that is only because of my amazing wife who repeats it to her little girls over and over.
