“Daddy, do you have any Carrie Perry?”
“Katy Perry? Yes.”
“Yes, Carrie Perry. Play it! Play it!”
And so began our Thursday night dance party 🙂

With Maile and Daddy out of town in Boston, Mommy and Lauren held down the fort in San Francisco. Lauren was intent on getting some exercise in after she heard about Daddy’s bike ride, so she and Mommy went to check out a gymnastics gym in the neighborhood we just heard about – San Francisco Gymnastics.
Lauren is definitely more adventurous than Maile when it comes to climbing and, in general, physical activity. I guess it takes a certain amount of fearlessness to chase after your 3.5 year older sister.
By far the most impressive part of their visit was Lauren’s work on the horizontal monkey bars…
Go, Lauren, go! We will definitely be back…

Doesn’t this make you want to have some yogurt for breakfast?

We taught the girls limbo last night – good times ensued 🙂
(And yes, Lauren is wearing Maile’s underwear over her diaper. We are in the full-fledged “copy-everything-my-big-sister-does” phase!)

It’s not Thursday, but it is Grandma Jill’s birthday today and I couldn’t resist rolling back one of my all-time favorite Maile videos.
I’m happy to report that the birthday wishes went MUCH better this year 🙂
Happy Birthday, Grandma Jill – we love you!

For her birthday, we gave Maile a pair of skates that have “training wheels” on them (so they start with two wheels in the back and then they can convert to more of an inline roller blade). Maile likes them and has been having fun learning to skate.
But Lauren LOVES them. Every day she goes over to them and whines until we put them on her. Then she gets annoyed with us if we try to hold her – she wants to stand on them all by herself!

Per Maile’s request, we had her birthday party at Pump It Up – the mecca of bouncy houses. The party was a great success with the kids (and some of the parents) all running themselves ragged followed by pizza and birthday cake. Some highlights below…
And here’s Maile Girl blowing out her birthday candles…
Birthday #5 was definitely a big success. Very thankful for all the friends that came to help us celebrate!

A year ago, Christine and I downloaded the Everyday app on our phones. Christine took Lauren and I took Maile. While we didn’t quite do it everyday, we each took pictures of the girls throughout the past year. Maile aging from 4 years old to 5 years old and Lauren aging from 6 months to 1.5 years old.
The compilations are great – you really see how the girls have changed physically over the past year (especially Lauren!)
Here’s Maile:

Lauren Girl here! It’s been awhile since I’ve written, but I had quite the adventure this weekend. For the holiday, Mommy and Daddy said we were going to “get out of the city” to some place called Sonoma. It didn’t mean much to me, but Maile seemed excited, so I was excited too.
This place was VERY different from home. Not elevators. And right outside the ground was green instead of gray! Yes, they had grass! RIGHT OUTSIDE THE DOOR!
I can get used to this country life for sure…
(Dad note: We rented a house up in Kenwood, CA right outside of Glen Ellen. It was great to get away for a few days. We actually didn’t take many pictures at all – just took the time to unwind, relax and have some fun in the sun with the girls!)

At Maile’s camp (Steve & Kate’s) they have an animation studio where the kids can make stop motion animated movies. Afterwards the counselors upload it to an account and the parents get notified.
Today, we got the notification when we got home and we were all excited to watch the movie with Maile after camp. Maile said she made an ageless story about a group of kids:
They were walking around. They found a treasure box. Then they looked at it. They found treasure. And then they walked back home.
And without further ado, here is Maile’s first masterpiece…
Yes, it goes by quick 🙂 But if you slow down the frames its kind of cool. Spielberg here we come!
