I am so excited to go to Boston tomorrow morning that I had A LOT of trouble falling asleep tonight. (Dad note: literally took 3 hours to get Maile girl down for good.) I can’t wait to see Grandma Jill, Grandpa Mike and Auntie Elyssa again. Plus I get to meet all of my Boston friends that mommy and daddy have told me so much about!
Below is a sneak peek of what you have coming your way!
And, of course, Safe travels to everyone who will be traveling tomorrow and Happy Thanksgiving!
So embarrassing. Hey daddy, how about we act like we've been here before?
Saturday I attended my first football tailgate! It was down at Stanford University – where my daddy went to school. I have to say, big people get pretty funny at tail gates. Not sure what was in their milk, but things definitely got a little crazy. My friends Wills, Hannah and Allison were all there – we had great fun. My daddy’s friend Hector rented the biggest car I’ve ever seen (called an RV) and he cooked some food that looked absolutely delicious (of course mommy and daddy still refuse to let me try any of that stuff despite my longing looks and proficiency with my spoon).
Did I mention there was lots of “milk” drinking going on too?
Hey daddy, how about you save some for your daughter?
Someone also made these really cool cupcakes – they almost looked like toys. Daddy explained to me that Stanford’s mascot is a tree – I like trees (I always look at them when we go on walks) – so I think that’s pretty cool. (Dad note: I completely forgot who actually made the cupcakes so I apologize for not giving proper recognition. Too much milk perhaps.)
Hard to tell from this angle, but the trees are actually frosting on ice cream cones sitting on cupcakes!
And the ear muffs mommy bought me worked out perfectly! There was a full dj set up right behind us, but I still managed to catch a few zzz’s!
All in all, despite the result (the Mighty Cardinal fell to Cal) – it was an awesome day and I can’t wait until my next tail gate!
Surprisingly, I actually like these things. Quite comfy...
... although they do kind of push my cheeks together a little bit!
This weekend is Big Game – the annual football game between Stanford and Cal. Apparently, this is a big deal as my daddy is quite excited. I like watching football with him, so I figure going to an actual game should be lots of fun!
I did mention to mommy that I was a little concerned about all the loud noises. I am still a baby after all. Mommy consulted with Wills’ mommy (he’s an old pro and has been going to Stanford football games all season). Wills’ mommy suggested getting these ear muff thingies that I’m wearing in the picture. How cool is that? Now I’m all ready for the game! Go Cardinal!
(Dad note: I know this might shock you, but these baby ear muffs were not created to take babies to football games. Nope. They were created so you can take your baby … hunting. And I quote, “Great for taking the kids hunting and protecting their hearing from dangerous gun shot noise.” Yes, must protect the babies from the dangerous gun shot noise.
Bonus is that I guess I can take Maile hunting now. Click here if you want a pair for yourself.)
Daddy went to a conference last week and he got a real neat gift – a netbook. What’s a netbook? Well, its basically a full powered computer just in a smaller size casing – or as daddy explained, a “Maile”-sized casing. It’s perfect for me! I was getting tired of the big keys on daddy’s keyboard (and truth be told, I think daddy was getting tired of me banging on them when we worked together). These keys are nice and small for my tiny fingers. On Saturday, Daddy showed me how to use my new computer – he said I was a very fast learner…
Daddy showing me how my new Maile computer works...
Oh, so I press these buttons and then the letters show up on the screen? Cool!
Now if only I knew how to spell... Hmm...
Yes daddy, I promise, I'll only use this to write my blog - I won't go to any G-rated web sites...
(Dad note: We recorded this because Mommy claims Maile was sitting up by herself just before this video was shot – at least for a couple seconds. She’s definitely getting stronger, but she’s not quite there yet.)
I’ll be 4 months old on Wednesday! Pretty exciting. I’ve changed in lots and lots of ways. I’ve also grown A LOT! We’ll get the full details at my doctor’s appointment on Wednesday, but check out the pictures below:
I swear, I’m not crying because of mommy’s new haircut. I really, really like it. Really. Total coincidence that as soon as she came home and I saw her for the first time, I burst into tears. It was that damn blue monkey – he said something scary to me right at the same moment. Truth.
I’ve been going to bed earlier and earlier (and also sleeping longer too…) I typically go to bed now between 7 and 7:30 PM. Before it was closer to 8:30 PM. It’s definitely good that I am getting more sleep, but it means less time to spend with mommy and daddy after they get home from work. Tonight though daddy came home a little early and we all had fun hanging out before I went to sleep. Here are some shots we took…
Daddy's legs are quite comfortable...
Wheee!
I'm being shy ... yeah, right!
This ball is fascinating ...
... and yummy too!
I hope daddy isn't saying anything too important here because I don't fully understand english yet - I'll just laugh so he thinks I know what he is talking about...
