Daddy taught me how to play catch today. Well, in reality, daddy kept throwing the ball at me and I finally got tired of it hitting me in the face so I grabbed on to it. I hope this isn’t his approach for teaching me everything!
My Grandpa Cal is a judge. Today we went to visit him at his court house. I figured since Grandpa Cal is retiring in 2012 I would audition to be the next judge on Kaua’i. How do you think I did?
Wait! I'm innocent. I swear! I'm being framed... Heeeellllp me!
Whew. That was close - mommy came and saved me!
Okay Grandpa. Break it down for me. To be a Judge, I have to read ALL of these books behind me? Do they have pictures? I'm mostly working with books that have pictures these days...
Now this is what I'm talking about. This tastes ... powerful.
Seriously - let's get these puppies added to the baby registry. New. Favorite. Toy.
Be honest. How does this look?
What's that? I don't need to wear anything under this? Not even a diaper? Nice. I'm liking this judge deal!
Well, I’ve been in Hawaii for 24 hours and I can honestly say the highlight so far has been playing with my Grandma and Grandpa again. I’m absolutely fascinated with my Grandpa’s face – I keep grabbing it – that man has a great chin! And even though I was a bit fussy today, I still had fun playing with Grandma Gail – I was just fussy to keep her on her toes a bit 😉
Grandma Gail gave me a tour of the neighborhood - she's a great guide!
Hmm... you do look familiar - let me check a few things out...
How did you find me? Did blue monkey tell you I was hiding in the pink elephant bag?
Check out this fun toy bag, hiding place that my Auntie Elyssa got me! I think its the only Hanukkah present I’ve gotten so far that I like better than the wrapping paper it came in!
On Saturday, Mommy and Daddy took me to go Christmas Tree shopping. I always like looking at the trees when I go on my walks – this was even better. There were trees EVERYWHERE! We went to this big house looking place that was just full of trees. How fun would it be to live there? (Dad note: we were at the Festival Pavilion down by Fort Mason.)
Below are some pictures we took of our Christmas tree hunt – since its my very first Christmas tree, we took our time to find the perfect one…
I really like trees. I'm a bit overwhelmed here.
Daddy, I think we should pass on this one - I'm just not sure these branches are going to hold up well.
Mommy and me checking out the tree scene...
Daddy is helping me get a bird's eye view so I can spot the perfect tree for us...
It’s amazing how time flies. Four months ago I was having a little trouble keeping my big ol’ head up.
Now look at me!
How you like me now?!
But that’s not all – I have a milestone to share. When I was in Boston, I decided to unveil a new trick I’ve been working on. I tried it out for the first time with Grandpa Mike – he was watching me and I just started rolling over. I started on my back, went to my front and then back to my back! Rolling is fun and useful too – I’ve learned that by rolling I can finally reach the toys that mommy and daddy leave just out of my reach.
(Dad note: This rolling stuff is no joke. Maile did it for the first time on Sunday and now every time we put her down it seems like she is off rolling somewhere. This morning we put her down on her play mat, turned away for a minute and she was halfway across the room! So no more leaving Maile alone on her play mat – definitely an interesting new wrinkle to Maile’s development. PS – how crazy are those old videos – hard to believe that was only 4 months ago!)

It wasn’t all fun and games this weekend. On Saturday I went with mommy and daddy to Grandpa’s office (for those that don’t already know, my Grandpa Mike is a dentist). Things were going great until Grandpa discovered that Mommy had a bad filling. We consulted and decided that it should be fixed. (Dad note: I think the issue was pretty minor, I think Grandpa just wanted to be able to say he had something to do with mommy’s beautiful smile 😉
With my help, Grandpa fixed mommy right up. I’m glad – I like mommy’s smile a lot!
Grandpa and I consulting on the proper course of action...
I sat right on mommy and kept an eye on things - I don't have teeth yet, so I'm very protective of my mommy's...
Grandpa said I did a good job holding the mirror for him...
The finished product - mommy still has beautiful smile - mission accomplished!
I’m going to come clean. I was told that Thanksgiving was this great meal. In fact, I watched Grandma Jill cook for two days straight. She made all types of interesting dishes. I, of course, have no idea what any of them were, but they certainly looked yummy. (Dad note: they were!)
So I get all dressed up, expecting a break from my breast milk routine … and what happens? I get squat. Same old milk. And to add insult to injury, mommy sat me on her lap and ate over my head all night. What a tease!
(Don’t feel bad for me though – I got mommy and daddy back. I quickly learned that every time they brought me into this one particular room in Grandma & Grandpa’s house, it meant they wanted me to go to sleep. No matter how tired I was, I just went ballistic every time they tried to bring me into that room. Ha! That will show them to keep me from yummy food!)
