We went over to Sophie’s house for a 4th of July BBQ. The girls are getting to the age where they can play amongst themselves and we only need to break in on occasion to encourage more focus on sharing. Good friends, great food – was a nice way to celebrate the 4th!
As you will be able to tell from these pictures, the girls really liked sitting next to each other on the same chair...

Sophie and her daddy made these great patriotic popsicles
So yummy, but so cold. Truth be told, Maile Girl bailed on the popsicle a little while after this. Daddy can report that it was delicious though!
This is what Maile does when she is tired of me taking her picture. Just closes her eyes and patiently waits for me to get lost. Smart girl 😉

Definitely one of the cooler things to watch over the past year is how Maile’s drawing has improved. It wasn’t too long ago, that it was all scribbles without much rhyme or reason. Early on everything was basically one color as well. Now, she really is starting to put things together, using shapes correctly and introducing multiple colors into her work. Daddy, in particular is relieved – he actually gets it right some times when Maile asks him if he knows what she is making!
Hawaii wasn’t all fun and games – Papa Cal put me to work washing his car. Actually, come to think of it, it was pretty fun so maybe Hawaii WAS all fun and games!
Yes, this bucket is almost bigger than me! Papa's car is pretty big so I needed to make sure I had enough soap and water!
