On Sunday, we headed to the San Francisco Zoo with Hannah, Sophie, Jake and their parents. It was our first trip to the zoo in SF. We were prepared for a meltdown after Maile’s experience in New York with her grandparents, but she was actually great. I think it helped that the San Francisco Zoo was really wide open.
We’ll definitely be heading back, since the kids are all old enough to walk now, it took us awhile to get around. We probably only covered 25% of the zoo – but we had a lot of fun doing it!

Mommy, Maile, Megan, Hannah, Andrea and Jake - Mother's Day 2011
Hannah, Jake and I prepared a Mother’s Day get together for the mommies. We all headed over to Jake’s house and had a fun afternoon hanging out and eating. Hannah, Jake and I actually spent some time with Jake’s new kitchen trying to put together the meal. Results were a bit mixed.

On Friday, Megan set up an awesome Easter egg hunt for the girls. They absolutely loved it – pretty sure it’s safe to say Easter is Maile’s new favorite holiday (especially since that scary big red bearded guy wasn’t around

Every once in awhile Grandma Gail and Grandma Jill can’t wait to see Maile so they head to the local mall and buy her some new outfits and send a package Maile Girl’s way. A funny thing happened last month. We got a package from Grandma Gail and it had a very cute green spring outfit in it. We loved it. Then a few weeks later we received a package from Grandma Jill. it too had a very cute green spring outfit in it. In fact, it looked kind of familiar. A quick check of Maile’s closest revealed that Grandma Gail and Grandma Jill have very similar taste (and luckily it is quite good!)
Spring finally broke in SF today and we decided to put our 2 very cute green spring outfits to work…

Jake hosted a haircutting party on Saturday and the SF gang got together to get much needed haircuts from Jake’s Aunt. It was a good opportunity for Maile and Hannah to catch up since they hadn’t seen each other in roughly 12 hours.

Today we hosted our first annual Super Bowl party with the San Francisco crew and their little ones. Hannah, Allison and Jake (along with their respective parents) came over for the game. (We were going to have even more little ones, but Sophie and Vincent were under the weather – par for the course in SF these days with the flu bug going around…) The twist with our party was that it only lasted until half-time – after that everyone went home to go to bed. We’ll tell Maile in the morning that the “cheese” (her pick) won.
As you might imagine, it is getting harder and harder to snag a picture with everyone all at once!
Jake was quite pleased to have 3 ladies all to himself. Here he is chatting up Maile Girl, but he made his rounds...

The girls got a little bored with the game so we threw some cards on the table to see what would happen. They figured things out pretty quick… (be sure to keep an eye on Hannah and her sneaky move with the Ace…)
You might notice near the end of the video that Mommy teaches Maile the basics of Liar’s Poker. She took right to it after that:

On Saturday, we went on YAPST (“yet another pre school tour”) – this time Hannah and Jake joined us. It was fun watching them interact with each other, especially Maile and Hannah. One our friends that has twins told us that Maile and Hannah remind her of how her boys act. It’s not surprising, they pretty much spend every day together during the week. Things remained peaceful at the pre school (luckily), but Megan has certainly shared that they get into it with each other sometimes. Just like real sisters…

Awhile back we joined a local kids club called Peekadoodle. Its about 3 blocks from our apartment and its a great open space with lots of cool stuff for Maile and Hannah to explore. They absolutely love going there. They have the place figured out too – the Halloween party on Friday was the first time I’d been in a couple weeks and Maile showed me all around to her favorite things: the cable car, the play kitchen, the slide. She loves it – man, is she going to be disappointed by her own room when she gets a bit older!
The Halloween Party was great fun. In addition to the normal games and activities, they had a room where you could decorate your own pumpkins (which were actually orange paper pots), a photographer (who took the great picture of Maile we posted yesterday) and even a live band, Basho & Friends!
