August 2012

Grandma Jill and Papa Mike are coming this weekend and Maile Girl is very, very excited! Last weekend, every time we mentioned the trip she’d get all excited and then start asking if they were coming in “5 minutes” or “after nap” – so we made a calendar on her chalkboard and every day after school she gets to cross off a square and count how many are left. Great success!

Maile and Hannah don’t see each other nearly as much as they used to, but when they do get together it’s like they haven’t missed a beat! They act just like sisters – which means they play together nicely most of the time, but they can also drive each other crazy. Before the tears though, we caught a couple pictures of them just being two little girls at Hannah’s 3rd birthday party last weekend…

Hannah, you are HILARIOUS!

Ready to party

by Papa K on August 14, 2012

The picture below was taken at 6:07 AM. Roughly 5 minutes after Maile woke up. Her eyes aren’t even open yet – she basically woke up, remembered that we had promised that she could wear her new purple party dress and put it on. Needless to say, Maile Girl was ready to party!

Catching a Maile Fish

Ready?

Ready?

I caught a Maile fish!

There will come a time where Maile will not be amused by little games like this … I hope that time comes very, very slowly!

Life is good.

by Maile Girl on August 12, 2012

On Friday, Daddy asked me if I wanted to go swimming in a pool. I looked at him for a second – OF COURSE, I wanted to go swimming in a pool! He told me a friend of his, Uncle Jared, was having a pool party for his birthday. I thought this was a little weird, because I couldn’t imagine too many people could fit in the pool that Grandma Gail and Papa Cal have in the backyard.

We had to drive a little over an hour to wine country (or “adult juice” country as I know it) for the party. The drive was worth it though – the house was really beautiful and boy was I wrong about the pool!

Don't worry, the pool doesn't fall off a cliff. There's a ledge there, I made Daddy double check when we got in.

Daddy and Maile - maxin' and relaxin'!

And then we drove back to San Francisco…

Thought I’d end the week with a beautiful shot Mommy took of Maile just enjoying the summer and playing on the grass…

Shadows

by Papa K on August 8, 2012

Maile and I headed out for a walk yesterday afternoon and was able to update our “shadow” picture. My little girl is growing up fast!

Peanut Butter Jelly Song

by Papa K on August 7, 2012

Maile had music class at school today and learned a new song about peanut butter and jelly. She taught it to Mommy tonight – apparently this whole back and forth went on for quite awhile and Christine managed to capture a bit of it on video.

I know my Daddy misses me so I decided tonight I would help him feel like he was back home with me. How best to do that? Well, by reading him a story of course!

Can you see, Daddy? And then the train went chugga chugga CHOO CHOO!

Baking Muffins

by Papa K on August 3, 2012

Maile Girl and Mommy have been baking up a storm lately – banana muffins are their go to specialty!

Mommy, I think the batter is all mixed - let's get ready to pour it...

(Dad note: Apologize for missing a couple days of posts. I headed to Boston on the red eye Wednesday night – this weekend I’m headed out to ride in the Pan Mass Challenge. Wish me luck!)
