Yes, this is a video of Maile playing with a nasal aspirator. But its actually pretty interesting. When Maile has a cold (like she did last week), we (mostly Mommy) use the nasal aspirator to give her some relief and clear out the gunk. What this video shows is that she is actually learning multi-step processes: she knows that the first step is cleaning the aspirator, then she cleans her nose, then she cleans the aspirator again. We’re noticing that she is starting to copy us more and more – she watches us like a hawk as we do our every day tasks around the house. She still stubbornly refuses to talk (at least with real words), but its clear she understands a fair amount of what is going on around her.
