At most hair studios, you, the customer, get to choose what style you want.
At Maile’s hair studio, you, the customer, get whatever she wants to do … and it often matches whoever else is getting their hair done at the same time.
Thus, we have “Mommy and Lauren are matching…”
Note: I also love Lauren’s look throughout this – not clear she really has any idea what is going on, but if it pleases her sister, she is game!

Our routine in terms of getting Maile to and from school is that I drop her off in the morning and Christine picks her up in the afternoon. There are pros and cons to each setup, but definitely a “pro” of the afternoon pickup is that you get the fresh details of what Maile did that day in school. By the time I get home for dinner, it’s like pulling teeth getting anything out of her.
Christine will occasionally text me quotes from their afternoon conversations – last week there were a couple doozies one right after another…

The Darth Vader one is great. She’s only watched the first 45 minutes of Episode IV and she is obsessed with Darth Vader – he comes up time and again in terms of something she is scared of. I don’t have the heart to tell her yet that Darth Vader could choke her even if he wasn’t “holding her hand” 😉

Our little girl is quickly becoming less … well, little. The words are starting to come fast and furious. She continues to adore her big sister and they play together more and more. She loves singing and dancing. She’s still fearless. More and more stubborn with each passing day. But, of course, smiley and giggly and brings so much joy to our lives!

Mommy is always teaching Maile fun, new art techniques. Maile must have picked up the concept of tracing somewhere recently. This weekend Mommy saw what Maile was trying to do and showed her how she could use the windows in our apartment as a light box to make tracing easier.

Well, that was all Maile needed – once she learned the concept, she really ran with it. Christine claims that she didn’t tell Maile to add to the picture at all – she just started tracing and then realized she didn’t have to do it all in order, she could mix it up and add the characters however many times she wanted and her own flourishes as well. Pretty cool!

Back in the summer Maile told Grandma Gail that she wanted to be a bee for Halloween. Like she always does, Grandma Gail set to work and delivered another incredible costume for the girls!

Bzzzzzzzz
On top of the great costumer, we were also lucky to have Auntie Elyssa in town. She decided to dress up to as the “Auntie Bee” – Maile was so excited when she found out that Auntie was dressing up too.
Auntie joined Maile at school for the PKS Halloween party and then we met up with some friends to hit up Avila Street for some serious trick or treating. (And I mean serious – there were hundreds of people out and every house was stocked with candy.) Auntie chased after Maile going house to house and Mommy and I had the pleasure of escorting Lauren. It was so much fun – she insisted on walking (just like her big sister) the entire time. She would go up to each house, wait for them to lower the bowl of candy to her height, pick out her piece and then say, “Tank you”, before moving on to the next house. I died of cuteness every time she said “tank you.”
