Bathing Problem Solved!

by Papa K on August 5, 2009

Now this is what I call a bath!

Now this is what I call a bath!

Every once in awhile as a parent you figure something out and you feel like giving yourself a big pat on the back. Maile has absolutely been hating her bath. We knew we weren’t doing it quite right, she was cold and uncomfortable … and since she was so uncomfortable we were rushing it and not really giving her a good cleaning.

Part of the problem was definitely that until the umbilical cord fell off we couldn’t submerge her at all. Once that did, we tried dipping her in a small bucket in the sink, but our girl is just too big for that.

Today we pulled out the big guns and setup the bath tub (given to us by Ronna and Shelley M.) – great success! As the above picture can attest, Maile loved it. It was like she was in her own private spa!

BTW – The tub itself is pretty cool. It’s The First Year’s Infant To Toddler Tub with Sling – the sling is what really makes it. She just can sit back and relax and chill with enough of her body in the water that she stays warm.

So pat on the back for mom and dad today!

Apparently, Maile Loves NYC!

by Papa K on August 5, 2009

Maile <Hearts> New York!

Maile Hearts New York!

File this in the “strange baby behavior” category. Maile is absolutely fascinated by these two maps we have framed of New York City and San Francisco hanging over our couch. She LOVES staring at them.

Since we were looking, we decided to teach her a bit about the big city – showed her our favorite neighborhoods and where we used to live…

Learning about New York City

I read somewhere that baby’s like the contrast between black and white, so we’re pretty sure she likes the black frames against the white walls. (As proof she also likes Chris’ hair against her face and was also fascinated by Marc L’s eye brows!)

But that explanation aside, who knows – maybe she’s a NYC girl at heart?

She's not crying, so we'll take it!
